AD Card

AD Card support

AD Card is a free iPhone app for people with a spinal cord injury who are at risk of autonomic dysreflexia. It puts your usual blood pressure and the first steps for whoever is helping you on your phone, your Lock Screen and a printable wallet card.

AD Card is an information card, not medical advice or a medical device. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Common questions

Can AD Card add itself to Medical ID?

No. Apple doesn't let any app write to Medical ID, so you add it yourself in the Health app. AD Card's Medical ID screen builds the text and has a Copy all button, and walks you through where to paste it.

Can someone open my card if they find my locked phone?

Not the card itself, because it needs your phone unlocked. Two things work on a locked phone: the Lock Screen widget, which shows the headline, and Medical ID (swipe up, tap Emergency, then Medical ID), which paramedics are trained to open. Set up Medical ID from AD Card's Medical ID screen.

How do I open my card quickly?

Say "Hey Siri, show my AD Card", set the Action button to the Show card shortcut, or add the Lock Screen or Home Screen widget and tap it.

Where is my information stored?

Only on your phone. There is no account and nothing is sent anywhere. See the privacy policy.

How do I delete my information?

Edit my details → scroll to the bottom → Delete my card. Medical ID in Health is separate; remove it there.

Fill from Apple Health shows no readings

It only shows blood pressure readings saved in Health from the last two months. Check that AD Card has access: Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → AD Card → turn on Blood Pressure.

Where does the first-aid guidance come from?

It is a short summary, in our own words, of published guidance: the Consortium for Spinal Cord Medicine / Paralyzed Veterans of America, the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation, the Spinal Injuries Association, EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA and NICE. Full source names are in the app under Where the guidance comes from. Always follow the plan from your own spinal team.

Does AD Card work with VoiceOver and large text?

Yes. It is built for Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, large touch targets and hands-free opening with Siri.
