The short version
- AD Card is an information card. It is not medical advice or a medical device.
- In an emergency, call your emergency number.
- You are responsible for keeping your details correct and up to date.
- Don't rely on it alone. Carry a printed card or an ID bracelet too.
What AD Card is
AD Card is an information card for people with a spinal cord injury. It holds details you enter and a short summary of published first-aid guidance, so that someone helping you can see them quickly. It is not a medical device. It does not measure your blood pressure, tell you whether you are having an episode, diagnose anything, or recommend any treatment or medication. It is not medical advice.
In an emergency
If you or someone else is unwell or in danger, call your local emergency number (112, 999 or 911) and follow the advice of the people treating you. Don't delay getting help to look at or show this app.
Your details
The card shows what you enter. You are responsible for keeping it correct and up to date, including your usual blood pressure, your catheter and your medication note. Check what you enter with your spinal team. If your details are wrong or out of date, the card will be wrong.
The guidance
The first-aid steps and guides are a short summary, written by the publisher, of guidance published by the Consortium for Spinal Cord Medicine and Paralyzed Veterans of America, the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation, the Spinal Injuries Association, EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA and NICE. They reflect the version date shown in the app. Guidance changes, and a summary leaves things out. It is general information, not a plan for you, and it does not replace your own care plan, the judgement of the clinicians treating you, or the protocols of paramedics and hospital staff.
Don't rely on it alone
AD Card depends on your phone and on iOS. Widgets, Siri, the Action button, Medical ID and Apple Health can be unavailable or out of date, for example if the battery is flat, the phone has just restarted and not been unlocked, or settings have changed. Medical ID is set up by you in the Health app, and AD Card can't change it. Don't make AD Card the only way people can find out about your condition. Carry a printed card or an ID bracelet as well.
Apple Health
If you use Fill from Apple Health, AD Card reads blood pressure readings that you or your devices saved in Health. It does not check them. Only you can say which reading is your usual one.
Provided as it is
AD Card is free and provided as it is. The publisher does not promise that it will be available, free of errors, or suitable for your needs, and may change or withdraw it at any time.
Limits on responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, the publisher is not responsible for loss or harm that comes from relying on AD Card, from details that are wrong or out of date, or from it being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Privacy
AD Card keeps your information on your phone and does not send it anywhere. The full privacy policy is at adcard.geoffharte.com.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, the app will ask you to read them again.
